I am trying to decide between a Concept 2 and RowPerfect erg. Anyone have any advice on which is better? Thanks!

There really is no choice between the two. Concept 2 every time!

Depend what you want it for. The C2 is the standard machine for testing, so if you wish to compare your times with most National Testing Results, you need a C2. One point to consider is the load placed on the athlete by the C2 in comparison to the Rowperfect. The Rowperfect more closely replecates the boat loads and also gives feedback in technique development. You can improve the C2 by using slides. I coach Junior and younger girls, and would prefer to have them on a Rowperfect to reduce injuries. Thye Rowperfect does not look very impressive in comparison to a C2, but for replication of the rowing stroke, I prefer the Rowperfect.

I bought a Concept 2 and really like it--it's solidly made and easy to store. But last summer I used a fantastic machine at a prep school gym; the resistance came from a blade cutting through a plexiglass tub filled with water. It was mesmerizing--but that kind of machine is very expensive and not exactly practical for most home gyms.

Rowperfect every time - my coach banned us from concept2s 3 months before Henley in favour of RPs. Link to a laptop with the right software and you get all the finishing-edge performance feedback you need to make the final. And lose. Ah...
